De este modo el hombre primitivo comenzó por organizarse en hordas nómadas que subsistían principalmente de la recolección de frutos y de la cacería; pero estas organizaciones eran incapaces de producir el sustento diario, por lo que emigraban a nuevos sitios cuando ya habían agotado los recursos del lugar que ocupaban. El descubrimiento de la agricultura fue un gran paso para la consolidación de la organización sedentaria pues a medida que los primeros pobladores se capacitaron para cultivar la tierra y obtener de ella lo necesario para vivir; fueron desprendiéndose de la necesidad de trasladarse a nuevos lugares, lo que conllevó a que el hombre despertara el sentido de pertenencia y arraigo, que puede ser la semilla de la sociedad actual.
